Hitman: Blood Money is a 2006 stealth video game published by Eidos Interactive and developed by IO Interactive and released for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Microsoft Windows. The PS2 version was released in North America on June 27, 2006 and the PC version was released on November 14, 2006. The game follows Agent 47, a cloned assassin-for-hire who has been made to take out high-profile targets around the world. He soon becomes embroiled in a global conflict concerning his own past as he seeks revenge against those responsible for his misery. It is the fourth title of the Hitman series which also includes Silent Assassin (2000), Contracts (2001), and Absolution (2012). The game was initially announced as "Hitman IV" by Eidos in 2004 to be released the following year, but the title was eventually changed to "Hitman: Blood Money". It is rated M for mature by the ESRB for its intense violence and strong language. On June 2, 2006, a demo for this game was released onto Xbox Live Marketplace and Games for Windows – Live. On July 28, 2006, an official soundtrack of music from the game was released under the Music label Sumthing Else. It was composed by Jesper Kyd. The soundtrack also carries some 'bonus tracks', which are extended versions of the main songs. A second soundtrack, called "Hitman: Blood Money - The Album", was released on December 11, 2006. It is a collection of electronica songs inspired by the game's music. For the first time in the series, Hitman: Blood Money features full voice-acting throughout all cutscenes and dialogue between characters, with actors Nolan North (Agent 47), Elias Toufexis (Alexander Leland Cayne), and Kimberly Brooks (Victoria) playing Agent 47, Deewana Ji, and Diana Burnwood respectively. The game also features the voices of other actors such as Michael McConnohie, Victoria Pratt, Stephen Russell, Keith Ferguson, Don Pesci, Raphael Sbarge, David Proval and Jimmy Bennett. The game features a "Hitman Hunter Challenge", which was cooperatively played against the developers. This feature allows players to play through the story or any of the game's challenges with over 1 million other people online. The game also features a multiplayer component for up to four players in split-screen at any time. The online multiplayer components are only available to players who have purchased the PC version of the game. The PlayStation 2 version received "favorable" reviews according to video game review aggregator Metacritic.
