It was adapted into live-action films in 2006, and a television drama which aired in Japan from April to June 2007. A sequel manga created by Ohba, titled Death Note: Another Note , began serialization in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine from December 2007 to November 2012. An anime adaptation of Another Note titled Death Note: New Generation began airing in Japan from October 2015 to March 2016, with an animated film released on August 25, 2016. Both Death Note manga have million copies printed in Japan. The manga series was published internationally by Warner Bros. under the name Death Note beginning in 2006. It has been translated into various languages around the world, including English, German and Spanish. A live-action film adaptation, also titled Death Note , was released in Japan on March 18, 2006. The film is loosely based on the first novel of the manga series, and the original script primarily follows those events from those of the manga. In 2005 Shueisha announced that a live-action television drama of Death Note would be broadcast as a series from April 1 to June 25 on Nippon Television's satellite network BS11. The series was directed by Shusuke Kaneko and written primarily by Tsugumi Ohba and Masashi Kubota. The drama was released to DVD by Warner Home Video on September 18, 2006.
